A well-established community bank is seeking an experienced Commercial Relationship Manager for its East Lansing, Michigan market. This position offers a clear succession opportunity, with the successful candidate positioned to advance into the Market Manager role based on performance, leadership, and continued market growth.

This individual will drive commercial loan production, develop new business, expand existing relationships, and build a strong presence throughout East Lansing and the Greater Lansing business community.

The ideal candidate will be an established commercial lender with a proven local book of business, strong community relationships, and a successful track record in loan production, portfolio management, and business development. Treasury Management experience is a plus.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop new commercial banking relationships through prospecting, referrals, networking, and community involvement.
  • Originate and grow commercial loans, deposits, and Treasury Management relationships.
  • Structure commercial loan requests and manage opportunities through underwriting, approval, documentation, and closing.
  • Manage and grow an assigned commercial loan portfolio while identifying opportunities to deepen existing relationships.
  • Build a visible presence throughout the Greater Lansing business community while demonstrating the leadership and market-development capabilities required for future advancement.

Qualifications

  • 4–6+ years of commercial banking or commercial lending experience, with a proven record of loan production and portfolio growth.
  • Established relationships and a proven book of business within East Lansing, Lansing, or the surrounding market strongly preferred.
  • Strong business-development, networking, commercial credit, and relationship-management skills.
  • 2–3+ years of leadership, team-lead, or management experience preferred, including the ability to coach employees and lead growth initiatives.
  • Treasury Management, commercial deposit generation, and involvement with chambers, nonprofit organizations, or professional associations are highly valued.

This is an excellent opportunity for an established commercial lender seeking more than the next lending position. The successful candidate will play an influential role in growing the institution’s presence throughout the East Lansing market while positioning themselves for advancement into the Market Manager role.

If you are a proven commercial lender with strong local relationships, measurable production success, and the desire to move into market leadership, I would like to speak with you today!
