Superintendent — Heavy Civil / Highway

A prominent Mississippi general contractor is seeking an experienced Heavy Civil/Highway Superintendent to lead field operations. The ideal candidate has a strong track record running crews on work such as highway paving, earthwork, excavation, underground utilities, and related scopes.

What You’ll Do

  • Champion a zero-incident culture; oversee all site safety, equipment, and compliance.
  • Plan and manage day-to-day field operations from mobilization through closeout.
  • Interpret and execute plans, specs, and contracts; ensure work meets QA/QC standards.
  • Build and maintain 3-week look-ahead schedules; sequence work to prevent delays.
  • Determine manpower, equipment, and material needs; coordinate deliveries and logistics.
  • Lead, mentor, and evaluate field personnel; support hiring and training efforts.
  • Maintain accurate project documentation (RFIs, submittals, change orders, diaries, quantities, purchase orders, schedules, as-builts).
  • Collaborate effectively with owners, engineers, inspectors, subcontractors, suppliers, and the public.
  • Identify long-lead items and risks early; drive timely solutions to keep projects on schedule and budget.

What You Bring

  • 5+ years supervising heavy civil/highway construction in the field.
  • 5+ years leadership/people management on heavy civil projects.
  • Deep knowledge of means and methods, costs, scheduling, and quality control.
  • Proficiency reading drawings/specs and managing construction documents.
  • Strong communication and team-building skills; calm under pressure and solutions oriented.
  • Highly organized, self-motivated, and adaptable in a fast-moving environment.
  • Valid driver’s license.
