Job Description

Our law firm is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Personal Injury Paralegal to join our growing team in Waterloo, IA. The ideal candidate will be responsible for assisting attorneys in the preparation and management of personal injury cases from inception through resolution. This position requires strong organizational skills, the ability to work under pressure, and a commitment to providing excellent legal support.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist attorneys in the preparation of personal injury cases, including drafting legal documents, discovery, and client correspondence.
  • Manage and organize case files, ensuring that all relevant documentation is accurate and up-to-date.
  • Coordinate medical records, bills, and expert witness materials for cases.
  • Maintain case calendars and deadlines, ensuring all filings and tasks are completed on time.
  • Conduct legal research and provide relevant case law and statutes for attorney review.
  • Communicate with clients, medical providers, insurance adjusters, and opposing counsel as needed.
  • Prepare settlement packages and draft demand letters for settlement negotiations.
  • Help manage trial preparation, including witness lists, exhibit organization, and deposition summaries.
  • Prepare deposition summaries and trial exhibits as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Paralegal certificate or relevant legal degree preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in personal injury law or litigation support.
  • Skills:
    • Strong understanding of personal injury law and civil procedure.
    • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and legal case management software
    • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
    • Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality and professionalism.
    • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
