Quality Manager – Precision Gear Manufacturing
This hands-on leadership role ensures compliance with customer specifications, AGMA standards, ISO 9001, and industry quality requirements.
The ideal candidate has deep experience in gearing (spur, helical, bevel, worm, spiral bevel) and understands gear inspection, process control, and precision manufacturing requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and manage the Quality Department, including inspectors and technicians
Oversee gear inspection processes, including in-process and final inspection
Ensure compliance with ISO 9001 (AS9100 a plus) and AGMA standards
Interpret and apply customer specifications
Manage Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA) and lead root cause analysis
Drive continuous improvement initiatives to reduce scrap and improve process capability
Oversee calibration systems and maintenance of inspection equipment
Interface with customers regarding audits, quality concerns, and performance reviews
Partner with Engineering and Production to support new product launches and process improvements
Monitor key quality metrics including PPM, scrap, rework, and on-time delivery impact
Required Qualifications
5+ years of quality leadership experience in gear manufacturing
Hands-on experience with gear inspection equipment (gear analyzers, CMM, lead/profile measurement, runout testing)
Strong knowledge of AGMA standards
Experience with heat treat, grinding, hobbing, shaping, and finishing operations preferred
Proficiency reading engineering drawings
Experience with ISO 9001 quality systems (AS9100 a plus)
Strong analytical, problem-solving, leadership, and communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related technical field
Experience in high-precision, tight-tolerance manufacturing
Customer-facing quality leadership experience
