HEAVY CIVIL SUPERINTENDENT

Location: Thousand Oaks, CA


A well-established heavy civil contractor specializing in earthmoving, excavation, utilities, foundations, and shoring is seeking a seasoned Heavy Civil Superintendent to oversee a diverse range of heavy construction projects. The ideal candidate will bring strong leadership skills and hands-on experience managing crews and subcontractors in complex site environments.


Key Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day field operations for projects including subdivisions, airports, golf courses, commercial and industrial developments, landfills, and flood control initiatives
• Coordinate excavation, earthmoving, underground utility installation, foundation work, and shoring operations to ensure quality, safety, and schedule adherence
• Lead and supervise crews, subcontractors, and equipment operators on-site, fostering a productive and safety-focused work environment
• Collaborate with project managers, engineers, inspectors, and clients to maintain clear communication and timely resolution of issues
• Monitor project progress, materials, equipment usage, and labor productivity to ensure cost-effective execution
• Enforce compliance with safety regulations, company policies, and environmental requirements
• Maintain accurate project documentation, daily reports, and communicate effectively with management

Required Experience & Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Superintendent or Field Superintendent in heavy civil construction with emphasis on earthmoving, excavation, and underground utilities
• Hands-on knowledge of foundations and shoring systems in heavy construction projects
• Strong leadership and crew management skills with a commitment to safety and quality
• Ability to read and interpret construction plans, specifications, and project schedules
• Excellent communication and organizational skills
