Director of Shipping & Receiving – Food Manufacturing

Are you a logistics leader with a passion for operational excellence and food safety compliance? A rapidly growing food manufacturer in Upstate New York is seeking a Director of Shipping & Receiving to drive performance across warehousing, inventory control, and inbound/outbound logistics.

This is a critical leadership role that ensures accurate product flow, traceability, and on-time performance that supports both production and customer success.


What You’ll Do

  • Lead daily logistics operations: warehousing, shipping & receiving, and inventory management

  • Ensure timely shipment of finished goods and receipt of raw materials and supplies

  • Improve delivery performance, documentation, and food safety compliance

  • Build and mentor a high-performing logistics team with a strong safety culture

  • Partner with Production, Quality, and Procurement to enhance operational effectiveness

  • Maintain compliance with FDA, USDA, FSMA, HACCP, SQF, and GMP standards

  • Manage carrier relationships, negotiate freight terms, and resolve logistics challenges

  • Optimize warehouse layout, material flow, and leverage WMS/ERP systems

  • Track KPIs such as inventory accuracy, freight cost, and on-time delivery

  • Lead process improvement initiatives to reduce cost and support growth

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, or Business 

  • 7–10+ years logistics/warehouse leadership in a manufacturing environment

  • Food or refrigerated facility experience

  • Expertise in food safety compliance and regulatory requirements

  • ERP/WMS proficiency (SAP, Oracle, NetSuite or similar)

  • Strong communication and team development skills

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-volume facility
