Job Description

A well-established law firm that specializes in civil litigation and insurance defense is seeking a motivated and experienced civil litigator for their Springfield or Columbia office.

Qualifications:

  • 3-7 years of experience in civil litigation, with a focus on insurance defense preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of insurance defense law, including personal injury, liability, and property claims.
  • Proven ability to handle all aspects of litigation, including motion practice, depositions, and trial preparation.
  • Excellent legal research, writing, and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to effectively communicate complex legal concepts.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a collaborative team.
  • High level of professionalism and strong attention to detail.
  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
  • Active state bar membership.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Represent clients in insurance defense matters, including personal injury, property damage, and liability claims.
  • Handle all stages of litigation, from pre-trial motions to trial and appeals.
  • Draft legal pleadings, motions, discovery requests, and other legal documents.
  • Conduct legal research and analyze case law, statutes, and regulations relevant to cases.
  • Manage and maintain case files, deadlines, and all aspects of case preparation.
  • Take depositions, draft and argue motions, and prepare cases for trial.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, opposing counsel, and other stakeholders.
  • Assist with settlement negotiations and alternative dispute resolution processes.
