Job Title: SBA Lender

Reports To: SVP – SBA Lending or Chief Lending Officer 

Position Summary:

The SBA Lender is responsible for originating, structuring, and closing SBA-guaranteed loans under the 7(a), 504, and Express programs. This role involves working closely with small business clients, internal credit partners, and the U.S. Small Business Administration to deliver customized financing solutions. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of SBA guidelines, strong credit and structuring skills, and a proven track record in SBA or small business lending.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Originate and manage a pipeline of SBA 7(a), 504, and SBA Express loans in compliance with SBA SOP guidelines
  • Analyze creditworthiness, prepare loan structures, and coordinate with underwriting and legal teams to ensure sound approvals
  • Prepare and present complete loan packages for internal approval and SBA submission
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on SBA programs, staying current on all regulatory and procedural changes
  • Manage the loan process from origination through closing, working closely with loan operations, attorneys, and third parties
  • Collaborate with business development officers, commercial lenders, and referral partners to identify and secure SBA-eligible clients
  • Ensure all required documentation is collected and maintained in accordance with bank and SBA requirements
  • Represent the bank in professional and networking events to promote SBA lending services

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, business, accounting, or related field
  • 3–5+ years of experience in SBA lending or commercial banking with SBA exposure
  • In-depth knowledge of SBA Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), eligibility, and documentation requirements
  • Strong credit analysis and loan structuring skills
  • Exceptional organizational, communication, and relationship-building abilities
  • Ability to manage multiple loan files in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with SBA software platforms such as E-Tran and SBA One
  • Familiarity with the SBA Lender Match or Preferred Lender Program (PLP) status
  • Established network of referral sources (CPAs, brokers, attorneys, etc.)
