A well-established manufacturing company is seeking an experienced Design Engineer Supervisor to lead a talented engineering design team at its Grapeland, Texas facility.

This is a key leadership opportunity for an engineering professional who enjoys combining technical expertise, people leadership, and continuous improvement. The Design Engineer Supervisor will lead a team of approximately 8–12 Design Professionals responsible for developing safe & efficient steel joist and decking solutions.

This role will have a direct impact on engineering performance, team development, product quality, and the company's ability to deliver innovative solutions to customers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of 8–12 Design Professionals, fostering a culture of safety, accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance in the design and development of steel joist and steel decking systems.
  • Develop team members through coaching, mentoring, performance feedback, and professional development opportunities.
  • Identify opportunities to improve engineering processes, productivity, quality, and overall customer service.
  • Establish and maintain consistent engineering practices across the design team.
  • Monitor team performance and key metrics while taking action to address opportunities for improvement.
  • Encourage team members to take ownership, innovate, and continuously improve.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
  • Experience in structural engineering, steel design, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, and develop engineering or technical professionals.
  • Strong understanding of engineering principles, design practices, and structural systems.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license.

Preferred

  • Experience with steel joist, steel decking, structural steel, or metal building systems.
  • Previous engineering supervisory or management experience.
  • Familiarity with AISC, SJI, SDI, ASCE, and applicable building codes and standards.
  • Experience with engineering/design software and automated design tools.
  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment.
