General Manager – Marine Construction

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced General Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of a marine construction company. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in marine construction, with experience leading operations, managing projects, developing employees, and maintaining strong customer relationships.

This is a hands-on leadership position for someone who understands the marine construction industry and can help drive the company's continued growth and success.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee day-to-day company operations and project execution
  • Manage and support project managers, superintendents, foremen, and field crews
  • Monitor project schedules, budgets, costs, and overall profitability
  • Work closely with ownership and leadership to establish company goals and strategies
  • Develop and maintain relationships with customers, subcontractors, vendors, and business partners
  • Assist with estimating, bidding, and business development efforts
  • Review contracts, proposals, and project requirements
  • Ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and profitably
  • Identify opportunities for growth and new business
  • Recruit, develop, and retain employees
  • Ensure company policies, procedures, and safety standards are followed

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of experience in marine construction or a closely related heavy construction industry
  • Previous experience in a senior management, operations, or general management role
  • Strong understanding of marine construction, including pile driving, dredging, waterfront structures, or related work
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and teams
  • Strong financial and project management understanding
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and decision-making skills
  • Strong relationships within the marine construction industry preferred
  • Ability to travel as needed
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Business, Engineering, or a related field is preferred but not required
