Quality Control Manager – Steel Fabrication

Position Overview:
The Quality Control Manager will oversee the development, implementation, and ongoing management of the Quality Plan. This role leads the QA/QC team and provides technical guidance to ensure all steel fabrication activities meet or exceed required standards.


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Direct and conduct quality inspections for fabricated components both onsite and at subcontractor facilities

  • Supervise the quality assurance team and maintain the quality management system

  • Establish, enforce, and monitor quality benchmarks aligned with project specifications and fabrication procedures

  • Guarantee adherence to contractual plans and industry standards

  • Compile and submit detailed quality and progress documentation, maintaining accurate inspection and test records

  • Evaluate quality processes for efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and compliance

  • Offer technical expertise throughout the bidding, construction, and post-construction phases

  • Detect and analyze quality issues, lead root cause investigations, and oversee corrective measures

  • Foster strong relationships with internal teams and external clients

  • Design and deliver training programs on quality assurance standards and best practices

  • Travel periodically to project sites, meetings, and training sessions as required


Required Skills and Competencies:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities with meticulous attention to detail

  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities

  • Clear and effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with strong listening abilities

  • Proficient in interpreting technical drawings and specifications

  • Comfortable with computer applications including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Procore software


Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a Quality Manager role within steel fabrication

  • Prior experience with AWS D1.5/D1.5M standards and working on USACE or similar government projects is highly desirable

  • In-depth knowledge of nondestructive testing (NDT) methods

  • Certification as an AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) required
