As we continue to grow, we are seeking a highly capable and relationship-driven General Manager to lead day-to-day operations and serve as the face of the company within the region.
Position Summary
The General Manager will oversee all operational, financial, and commercial activities of our grain and seed facility. This role includes supervising grain/seed handling and cleaning operations, managing procurement and grower relations, driving P&L performance, and ensuring a safe, efficient, and customer-focused environment. The GM will play a key role in originating grain and seed from local producers and maintaining strong community relationships.
Key Responsibilities Operational Leadership
Oversee daily grain and seed handling, conditioning, and cleaning operations.
Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards (OSHA, FDA, state ag guidelines, etc.).
Manage facility maintenance, equipment performance, and operational efficiency.
Lead, mentor, and develop a team of operational and administrative staff.
Commercial & Procurement (Originating Grain/Seed)
Serve as the primary company representative to local growers and customers.
Build and maintain strong relationships with producers, offering competitive bids and tailored solutions.
Originate grain/seed volumes needed to meet sales, cleaning, and merchandising goals.
Monitor local market conditions and communicate effectively with growers regarding pricing, contracts, and delivery schedules.
Financial Management
Own and manage facility budget, forecasting, and overall P&L performance.
Analyze operational and financial data to drive profitability and cost control.
Identify opportunities to improve margins, reduce waste, and increase throughput.
Work with senior leadership on strategic planning and capital expenditure needs.
Leadership & Culture
Act as the public face of the company within the local ag community.
Promote a culture of safety, integrity, customer service, and operational excellence.
Represent the company at grower meetings, industry groups, and community events.
Qualifications
5+ years of management experience in grain, seed, elevator, or agricultural operations required.
Strong knowledge of grain/seed handling, cleaning equipment, quality standards, and regulatory requirements.
Proven success in grain origination or grower-facing commercial roles.
Demonstrated budget management and P&L accountability.
Excellent communication skills and ability to build trust with growers, employees, and community partners.
Strong leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
Ability to work on-site, including seasonal extended hours as needed.
