GPAC is partnered with a leading structural steel fabrication company that is looking for an experienced Detailing Manager to join their team. Position Overview

The Detailing Manager will be responsible for managing and coordinating the structural steel detailing team to ensure timely, accurate, and high-quality shop and erection drawings. This role requires strong leadership, technical expertise, and a thorough understanding of AISC standards, connection design, and steel fabrication processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and manage a team of detailers and checkers.

  • Review and interpret architectural and structural drawings for project requirements.

  • Oversee preparation, review, and approval of shop and erection drawings.

  • Coordinate with project managers, engineers, fabricators, and erectors to resolve design and field issues.

  • Ensure compliance with industry codes, standards, and company quality control procedures.

  • Manage project schedules and detailing deliverables to meet deadlines.

  • Implement and maintain best practices in detailing processes, software, and standards.

  • Support estimating and pre-construction teams with detailing input when needed.

  • Act as the primary point of contact for detailing-related project communications.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 7+ years of experience in structural steel detailing, with at least 2-3 years in a supervisory or management role.

  • Proficiency in detailing software (Tekla Structures, SDS/2, or AutoCAD).

  • Strong knowledge of AISC, AWS, and industry codes.

  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.

  • Ability to read, interpret, and coordinate architectural, structural, and mechanical drawings.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred (experience may be substituted).
