Job Description

Steel Detailer – Large-Scale Structural Steel Fabrication

We’re seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Structural Steel Detailer to join our team and help bring projects to life through accurate and timely drawings. This is your chance to work with a well-established steel fabricator known for delivering some of the most recognizable structures in the bay area. As a Structural Steel Detailer, you will create detailed 2D and/or 3D shop drawings for structural steel components used in buildings and other structures. You'll work closely with engineers, project managers, and fabricators to ensure drawings are clear, accurate, and in line with project specifications and industry standards.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare detailed fabrication and erection drawings for structural steel
  • Interpret architectural and structural drawings
  • Model steel components using detailing software (e.g., Tekla, SDS/2, AutoCAD)
  • Generate part, assembly, and material lists
  • Communicate with engineers, project managers, and shop personnel to resolve issues
  • Ensure drawings comply with industry codes and project requirements

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in structural steel detailing
  • Proficiency with detailing software (Tekla Structures, SDS/2, or AutoCAD)
  • Strong understanding of steel fabrication and erection practices
  • Ability to read and interpret structural and architectural drawings
  • Attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills
  • Good communication and time management abilities

Preferred:

  • Experience with BIM coordination or 3D modeling
  • Familiarity with AISC standards

Compensation & Benefits:

  • $80,000 - 85,000 (DOE)
