Job Description

Transportation Road Engineer

A well-established and growing civil engineering consulting firm is seeking an experienced Transportation Road Engineer to join its transportation practice. This role offers the opportunity to support public-sector transportation projects and work on meaningful infrastructure that impacts local and regional communities.

This position is ideal for an engineer who enjoys a mix of technical design, project coordination, and client interaction, and who wants to be part of a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment.


Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop roadway infrastructure projects, including highways, local streets, and intersections

  • Perform site assessments and support data collection for project planning and design

  • Prepare engineering plans, technical specifications, and cost estimates

  • Ensure designs comply with applicable local, state, and federal standards and regulations

  • Support project schedules and assist with managing deliverables and timelines

  • Maintain strong client relationships and provide responsive technical support

  • Conduct quality control and quality assurance reviews of roadway designs

  • Collaborate with internal teams across multiple disciplines to deliver integrated projects

  • Perform additional duties as needed to support project success


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred

  • 5+ years of experience working on transportation projects for state DOTs, municipalities, or counties

  • Proficiency with MicroStation, OpenRoads, and related transportation design software
