Project Engineer

Position Overview

The Project Engineer is responsible for design, engineering, reverse engineering, safety, sustainable devices, and quality assurance. This role involves managing the manufacturing process for new electrical equipment, utilizing design software to produce schematics, and overseeing the installation of designed systems. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in electrical or mechanical engineering, with expertise in designing electrical switch boxes, switching gear, generator systems, and support systems.

Additionally, the Project Engineer will leverage technical product knowledge to support and build sales, ensuring compliance with industry standards and best practices. This position requires the ability to follow pre-established guidelines, work under supervision, and collaborate with engineers and product designers to develop mechanical drawings and specifications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain generators and electrical systems for consumer and business applications.
  • Reverse engineer existing products to improve design and performance.
  • Develop plans, parts lists, manuals, and ensure compliance with UL certifications and patent requirements.
  • Review customer specifications and assist engineers in designing custom-made products.
  • Provide technical assistance, pricing information, and job quotes to customers.
  • Facilitate communication between sales and engineering teams, ensuring accurate documentation of labor hours, supplier lists, order forms, and product manuals.
  • Oversee the installation and testing of electrical components, ensuring compliance with specifications, codes, and customer requirements.
  • Utilize computer-assisted design (CAD) software and engineering tools to perform detailed calculations and create technical drawings.
  • Collaborate with customers, engineers, and internal teams to discuss existing or potential engineering projects.
  • Establish and uphold manufacturing, construction, and installation standards.
  • Prepare specifications for purchasing electrical equipment and materials.

Qualifications & Skills

Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, CAD drafting tools, and other design software.
  • Experience with UL qualifications and compliance.
  • Strong analytical and conceptual design skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and inventory management software (e.g., Misys).

Communication & Collaboration:

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret business periodicals, technical journals, and government regulations.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for preparing reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, clients, and customers.

Problem-Solving & Reasoning Abilities:

  • Strong ability to define problems, collect data, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret complex technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and manage abstract and concrete variables.
