Job Description

My client is seeking a Heavy Equipment Mechanic. Summary of responsibilities include: Perform diagnostics, maintenance, and repairs on a broad range of heavy equipment and fleet vehicles, including light-, medium-, and heavy-duty trucks, as well as paving and earthmoving machinery. This is an hourly, non-exempt position that operates with a high level of independence under the general oversight of the Shop Superintendent or Shop Leader. Maintain a clean, safe, and organized shop environment. This role regularly requires overtime beyond 40 hours per week and may include occasional weekend or non-standard work hours, including Saturdays.

Qualifications:

  • Five to ten years of experience as a heavy equipment and/or truck technician preferred.

  • Valid driver’s license in state of residence with a driving record that meets company standards.

  • Must provide a complete personal set of mechanic’s tools.

  • Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills.

  • Solid understanding of hydraulic systems and operating principles.

  • Knowledge of diesel and gas engine fundamentals.

  • Familiarity with powertrain and drivetrain systems.

  • Ability to diagnose and repair electrical and electronic machine systems.

  • Experience with cutting, welding, and basic fabrication.

  • Working knowledge of fuel systems and related components.

Education:
Completion of an accredited Heavy Equipment or Diesel Technology program is preferred.
