Civil Litigation Associate Attorney – Corporate Client Focus
Position Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Civil Litigation Associate Attorney to join our team, with a strong emphasis on representing corporate clients in a variety of civil litigation matters. The ideal candidate will have experience handling complex litigation, exceptional legal research and advocacy skills, and a proactive approach to risk mitigation and client counseling. This role offers the opportunity to work with high-profile corporate clients on challenging and diverse legal issues.
Key Responsibilities:

Defending Civil Claims:
- Handle lawsuits involving product liability, workplace accidents, premises liability, commercial disputes, construction defects, and other civil litigation matters.
- Develop and execute effective defense strategies to minimize client exposure and liability.
- Manage all aspects of the litigation process, including pleadings, discovery, motion practice, and trial preparation.

Legal Research and Case Analysis:
- Conduct thorough and meticulous legal research to support case strategies.
- Draft and review legal memoranda, pleadings, and motions, ensuring alignment with case objectives and legal standards.
- Analyze case law and statutory frameworks to provide actionable insights and strategic recommendations.

Litigation and Risk Management:
- Provide proactive legal counsel to corporate clients on risk mitigation strategies to prevent future lawsuits.
- Manage litigation budgets and settlement negotiations, striving for favorable outcomes while controlling costs.

Client and Counsel Collaboration:
- Partner with corporate clients to understand business objectives and tailor legal strategies accordingly.
- Collaborate with outside counsel and internal legal teams to ensure cohesive and effective representation.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to clients, offering guidance on potential legal exposures and preventive measures.

Negotiation and Alternative Dispute Resolution:
- Engage in effective negotiations to achieve settlements that align with client goals.
- Explore and utilize alternative dispute resolution mechanisms, including mediation and arbitration, where appropriate.
Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
- Admission to the California State Bar (in good standing).
- A minimum of 3-5 years of civil litigation experience, particularly with corporate or commercial clients.
- Proven expertise in handling diverse civil litigation matters, including product liability, commercial disputes, and premises liability (excluding family law, labor, and employment cases).
- Exceptional legal research, writing, and oral advocacy skills.
- Strong analytical ability to assess liability risks and formulate effective defense strategies.
- Proficiency in case management and the ability to handle multiple matters simultaneously.
- Effective negotiation skills, with a track record of successful settlements or dispute resolutions.
- Collaborative mindset and the ability to build strong relationships with clients and colleagues.
