Associate Attorney – Insurance Defense
Locations: Scottsdale, Arizona or Long Beach, California (Hybrid or Fully Remote in CA)
Admission Required: Arizona and California
Experience Level: 2–5+ years
Salary Range: $130,000 – $180,000 (based on experience)
Employment Type: Full-Time
A well-respected insurance defense firm is seeking an experienced Associate Attorney admitted in both Arizona and California. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who wants meaningful case involvement, autonomy, and the ability to work from either state with 100% remote work available for California-based attorneys.
The ideal candidate will have a strong defense litigation background and the ability to manage files independently while working collaboratively with a highly skilled team.
Key Responsibilities
• Handle a variety of insurance defense matters, including:
– Commercial litigation
– Professional liability
– Premises liability
– General liability defense
• Conduct legal research, prepare motions, pleadings, and discovery responses
• Attend hearings, depositions, mediations, and arbitrations
• Manage cases from inception through resolution
• Communicate effectively with clients, courts, and opposing counsel
• Ensure timely case progression and meet litigation deadlines
Qualifications
• Admitted to practice in both Arizona and California (required)
• 2–5+ years of defense litigation experience
• Strong writing, research, and analytical skills
• Experience handling files independently
• Excellent communication and case management skills
• Ability to work collaboratively and meet deadlines
Work Location Options
• Scottsdale, Arizona office – ideal for candidates in the Phoenix area
• Long Beach, California office – optional for CA-based candidates
• 100% Remote work available for candidates located in California
• Must be admitted in both AZ and CA, regardless of location
Compensation
• Salary begins around $130,000 for attorneys with 2–3 years of experience
• Up to $180,000+ for candidates with 5+ years of experience
