Associate Attorney – Civil Litigation Defense
Location: San Diego, CA

About the Firm:
A well-established San Diego-based law firm is seeking a Junior Associate Attorney to join its civil litigation defense practice. The firm is known for its collaborative and supportive culture, hands-on mentorship, and commitment to high-quality legal representation. This is a fantastic opportunity for a rising defense litigator looking to gain exposure to a broad range of litigation matters in a structured but flexible work environment.

Position Overview:
The ideal candidate will have at least 1 year of civil litigation experience at a law firm, with a strong interest in growing within a defense practice. The position offers the opportunity to work alongside experienced trial attorneys while building foundational litigation skills across a variety of practice areas.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support senior attorneys in managing a diverse caseload

  • Draft and respond to discovery

  • Assist with motion practice, legal research, and trial preparation

  • Attend depositions, court appearances, and client meetings as appropriate

  • Work independently and collaboratively within a team-oriented structure

Requirements:

  • Active license to practice law in California

  • 1–2 years of experience in civil litigation defense at a law firm

  • Excellent legal writing, analytical, and research skills

  • Strong attention to detail and organizational abilities

  • Ability to meet a monthly billable goal of approximately 160 hours
