Job Title: Steel Estimator

Job Summary:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Steel Estimator to join our structural steel fabrication team. The ideal candidate will have 3–6+ years of estimating experience in a structural steel fabrication shop and be proficient in using Tekla for takeoffs and modeling. Our company fabricates both structural steel and miscellaneous metals for a variety of commercial construction projects in the region.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare accurate and competitive estimates for structural and miscellaneous steel components.

  • Review architectural and structural drawings, specifications, and bid documents.

  • Perform detailed takeoffs and cost estimates using Tekla software.

  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and the fabrication team to ensure alignment between estimates and production.

  • Coordinate with vendors and subcontractors for material and service pricing.

  • Identify value engineering opportunities and provide cost-saving recommendations.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 3–6 years of steel estimating experience in a fabrication shop setting.

  • Proficient in Tekla Structures and Tekla EPM (or similar platforms).

  • Strong understanding of structural steel and miscellaneous metals (e.g., stairs, handrails, embeds).

  • Experience with commercial construction projects.

  • Excellent attention to detail, organizational, and communication skills.
