Job Description

A leading distributor in the specialty chemical and fertilizer industry is seeking a driven Area Sales Manager to support accounts across Eastern Missouri and Southern Illinois. This role focuses on delivering high-value specialty ag & turf solutions to professionals in turf, ornamental, aquatics, and vegetation management sectors—serving clients like golf courses, lawn care companies, municipalities, and utility contractors.

Territory: Eastern Missouri & Southern Illinois (Field-Based) 

Area Sales Manager Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute a sales strategy to grow product lines across the assigned territory.
  • Build strong relationships with lawn care operators, golf and sports turf managers, aquatics and vegetation management applicators, and landscape professionals.
  • Prospect and convert new accounts while expanding existing customer relationships.
  • Clearly communicate program terms, pricing, promotions, and rebate opportunities.
  • Monitor and report market trends, customer feedback, and competitive activity.
  • Maintain accurate customer records, forecasts, and account documentation.
  • Coordinate closely with internal teams and supplier representatives to support customer success.
  • Attend and assist with field days, clinics, customer events, and trade shows.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent industry experience
  • Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel throughout the territory
  • Proven background in specialty ag, turf, or chemical/fertilizer sales
  • Excellent communication, time management, and decision-making skills
  • Ability to lift up to 60 lbs and perform job duties with or without reasonable accommodation
