Job Snapshot

Job Description

Long-standing community bank in west-central Illinois is seeking a Mortgage Lender. This is a non-incentivized, base-salary role designed for mortgage professionals who prefer a steady pipeline of purchase business over heavy outbound sales. The bank provides marketing support and internal referrals, making this position more service and order-taking than outbound business development. If you enjoy guiding borrowers and delivering smooth closings in a community-focused environment, this role offers stability, support, and long-term impact.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the mortgage process end-to-end: intake, disclosures, documentation, and closing.

  • Work warm leads generated by the bank and its marketing.

  • Support borrowers with Conventional, FHA/VA, USDA/RD loans, and down-payment assistance programs.

  • Provide clear updates to borrowers, internal partners, and referral sources.

  • Partner with branch staff, underwriters, and closers to ensure timely file management.

  • Deliver outstanding customer experiences that strengthen community relationships.

  • Maintain compliance with ECOA, HMDA, TRID, and all lending regulations.

Qualifications

  • 3–5 years of mortgage lending/origination experience (bank or credit union preferred).

  • Strong knowledge of purchase-market lending and pipeline management.

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.

  • Proficiency with DU/LP and common LOS systems.

  • Strong attention to detail and collaborative approach.

  • Must be comfortable working on-site during standard banking hours.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Competitive market base salary (commensurate with experience).

  • Full benefits package including medical, retirement, and PTO.

  • Monday–Friday schedule; occasional flexibility around closings.

Why This Role

  • A stable, well-capitalized community bank with a strong reputation.

  • Built-in marketing and referral support—less focus on outbound sales.

  • Focus on purchase-heavy lending in an affordable housing market.

  • Supportive, community-minded culture with long-term career stability.
