General Manager – Structural Steel Fabricator

A respected structural steel fabricator is seeking an experienced General Manager to lead daily operations, drive performance, and ensure excellence across fabrication, erection, safety, quality, and customer satisfaction. This is a key leadership role for someone with deep industry knowledge and the ability to manage teams, processes, and growth initiatives. A CWI certification is required.

The General Manager will oversee shop operations, manage production and scheduling, support project execution, and ensure all work meets the highest quality and compliance standards. Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee fabrication shop

  • Lead supervisors, managers, and project teams

  • Ensure welding quality, compliance, and adherence to CWI standards

  • Manage production schedules, budgets, staffing, and workflow

  • Support client relationships and assist with business development

  • Drive safety, productivity, and continuous improvement across departments

  • Review drawings, specs, and project requirements

  • Support estimating, planning, and execution of steel projects

  • Promote a positive, professional, and accountable team culture

Qualifications

  • 7+ years in structural steel fabrication

  • Proven leadership or operations management experience

  • CWI certification (required)

  • Strong knowledge of welding, and fabrication best practices

  • Ability to read and interpret structural drawings, codes, and specifications

  • Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills

  • Experience with scheduling, budgeting, and production planning

Preferred

  • Experience in both shop and field operations

  • Familiarity with AISC and AWS standards

  • Background managing commercial or industrial steel projects

Compensation & Benefits

  • $100,000 – $120,000 (DOE)
