Project Engineer – Heavy Civil / Site Development
Position Overview
We are seeking a motivated Project Engineer to join our growing heavy civil construction team. The ideal candidate will have 1–3 years of experience supporting heavy civil projects, with exposure to mass earthwork, excavation, underground utilities, grading, and general sitework.
This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious civil construction professional looking to build their experience and grow into a Project Manager role.
Responsibilities
- Support Project Managers with the day-to-day management of heavy civil and site development projects
- Assist with project schedules, budgets, cost tracking, documentation, and project coordination
- Review plans, specifications, contracts, and project documents
- Assist with quantity tracking, material procurement, RFIs, submittals, change orders, and project correspondence
- Coordinate with field teams to monitor project progress, productivity, materials, and manpower
- Support scopes including:
- Mass earthwork and excavation
- Grading and site development
- Underground utilities
- Drainage
- Paving and general sitework
- Coordinate with subcontractors, vendors, engineers, owners, and field personnel
- Maintain accurate project documentation and prepare project reports and updates
- Help identify and resolve project issues to keep work moving efficiently
- Assist with project closeout and ensure documentation is completed accurately and on schedule
Qualifications
- 1–3 years of experience in heavy civil construction, site development, excavation, utilities, or a related field
- Experience or familiarity with:
- Mass earthwork
- Excavation
- Underground utilities
- Grading
- General sitework
- Ability to read and interpret civil construction plans, specifications, and project documents
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office
- Experience with Bluebeam, Procore, or similar construction software is a plus
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Construction Engineering, or a related field is preferred
- Strong desire to learn, take ownership, and grow within a fast-paced construction environment
