Company Overview: Our client, a leading company in the waste management industry, is seeking a detail-oriented and organized Router to join their operations team. The company is dedicated to providing efficient waste collection and recycling services, and the Router plays a critical role in ensuring that routes are planned and executed effectively.

Job Summary: The Router is responsible for developing and optimizing waste collection routes to ensure maximum efficiency and timely service. This role involves working closely with dispatchers, drivers, and the operations team to create routes that meet customer needs while minimizing operational costs. The ideal candidate will have experience in route planning, strong analytical skills, and a good understanding of logistics.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Route Planning: Develop and optimize daily collection routes for waste collection vehicles, ensuring efficiency and adherence to service schedules.
  • Coordination with Dispatch: Work closely with the dispatch team to communicate route plans and make adjustments as needed based on real-time conditions or service requirements.
  • Data Analysis: Analyze route performance data to identify trends, inefficiencies, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Customer Service: Ensure that all routes meet customer requirements, and coordinate with customer service teams to address any service issues or special requests.
  • Cost Management: Monitor and manage routing costs, including fuel consumption, vehicle wear and tear, and driver hours, to maximize cost efficiency.
  • Technology Utilization: Utilize routing software and GPS systems to plan and adjust routes, ensuring the best possible outcomes for service delivery.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate records of route plans, changes, and performance metrics, providing reports to the Operations Manager as needed.
  • Compliance: Ensure all routes comply with local, state, and federal regulations, including safety and environmental standards.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify and implement process improvements to enhance routing efficiency and service quality.

Qualifications:

  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in route planning, logistics, or a related field, preferably within the waste management industry.
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; additional training or certification in logistics or route planning is a plus.
  • Skills:
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
    • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
    • Proficiency in routing software, GPS systems, and other relevant tools.
    • Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Work Environment: Ability to work in an office setting, with occasional field visits to observe and optimize routes.
