About the Opportunity

A growing community bank is looking to add an experienced Mortgage Loan Officer to its team. This individual will serve as the face of mortgage lending within the branch, developing relationships, generating new business, and helping expand the bank’s mortgage presence in the local market.

This is an excellent opportunity for a mortgage professional who enjoys the relationship-driven culture of community banking and has a proven ability to self-source mortgage business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary mortgage lending representative for the branch and local market.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with borrowers, real estate agents, builders, referral partners, and community organizations.
  • Self-source and generate new mortgage loan opportunities through networking, referrals, existing relationships, and business development efforts.
  • Guide borrowers through the mortgage process from application through closing.
  • Analyze borrower financial information, credit, income, assets, and property information to structure appropriate financing solutions.
  • Work closely with underwriting, processing, closing, and other internal teams to ensure a smooth borrower experience.
  • Maintain a strong pipeline while providing consistent communication and follow-up with clients and referral partners.
  • Represent the bank at community events and through local business development activities.
  • Identify opportunities to expand relationships and introduce customers to additional banking products and services.
  • Ensure all lending activity complies with applicable bank policies, regulatory requirements, and mortgage lending guidelines.

Qualifications

  • Several years of mortgage lending experience in a production-focused role.
  • Proven ability to generate and self-source mortgage business.
  • Strong existing referral network and/or demonstrated ability to develop one.
  • Excellent communication, relationship-building, and customer service skills.
  • Strong knowledge of residential mortgage products and lending processes.
  • Ability to independently manage a pipeline and prioritize multiple transactions.
  • Mortgage underwriting experience is a plus.
  • Experience working within a community bank, local bank, or relationship-focused financial institution is preferred.
  • NMLS licensing/registration required as applicable.
