In-Office Estimator — Wastewater & Water Treatment Tank Coatings

Location: (on-site, Monday–Friday) Employment Type: Full-time, salaried Compensation: From $125,000+ DOE (and well beyond for seasoned pros with strong field means & methods knowledge)

About the Role

We’re launching a focused search for an in-office Estimator to support our wastewater and water treatment tank coating division. This is a niche space—ideal for someone who understands industrial concrete and steel tanks, surface preparation standards, and protective coating systems. We’re open to speaking with Project Managers from this niche who are excited to transition into a dedicated estimating role.

Local candidates are preferred, and we’ll consider those willing to relocate to the area.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead takeoffs and prepare detailed, accurate estimates for concrete and steel tank surface prep and coating scopes (blast profiles, SSPC/NACE standards, linings, rehab, containment, etc.).

  • Analyze specs, drawings, and RFPs; develop clarifications, inclusions/exclusions, and risk notes.

  • Build labor, material, equipment, and subcontractor pricing with realistic production rates grounded in field means & methods.

  • Collaborate with operations, PMs, and field leadership to validate approaches, sequencing, and access plans.

  • Engage vendors and specialty subs for quotes; evaluate alternatives for value and constructability.

  • Support bid strategy, proposal writing, and handoff to project execution.

  • Maintain cost histories and continuously refine unit rates and assemblies.

What You Bring

  • 3+ years estimating and/or project experience in wastewater/industrial tank preparation and coating for concrete and steel assets.

  • Working knowledge of surface prep (e.g., abrasive blasting, waterjetting), coating/lining systems, QA/QC, and environmental/containment requirements.

  • Solid grasp of production rates, crew makeup, access/scaffolding, and safety considerations.

  • Proficiency with takeoff/estimating tools (your go-to stack is welcome) and Excel; strong spec reading and scope writing.

  • Clear, professional communication with clients, vendors, and internal teams; organized, deadline-driven, and detail-oriented.

Nice to Have

  • Prior on-site field or PM experience in tank rehab, coatings, or linings—especially in municipal/industrial settings.

  • Familiarity with SSPC/NACE standards and owner requirements for water/wastewater facilities.

  • Experience estimating access/containment, ventilation, and specialty QA documentation.

Why Join Us

  • Impactful work protecting critical water/wastewater infrastructure.

  • Autonomy and trust to build estimates the right way, with strong operational support.

  • Growth path into senior estimating, preconstruction leadership, or technical specialist tracks.

  • Competitive pay starting at $125k, with flexibility to go higher for seasoned expertise in field means & methods, plus benefits and relocation support as appropriate.
