Project Manager – Commercial Earthworks, Demolition & Excavation | Chicago, IL
A well-established commercial construction firm in Chicago is seeking an experienced Project Manager with a strong background in earthworks, demolition, and excavation to manage large-scale commercial projects from start to finish. This role is ideal for candidates with 6–10 years of project management experience in commercial construction, civil engineering, and site development.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage commercial construction projects including earthworks, demolition, and excavation, ensuring quality, safety, and profitability.
Plan, schedule, organize, and control all project activities, directly or through assigned personnel.
Collaborate with Estimating, Project Management, Operations, and Permit Expediting teams to structure project plans, manage quantities, and meet permit requirements.
Develop and coach project teams through goal setting and performance monitoring.
Communicate professionally with clients, subcontractors, consultants, and trade personnel regarding contracts, RFIs, and project progress.
Monitor project financial performance, including costs versus estimates, schedule adherence, resource allocation, cash flow, and profitability.
Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal codes, safety standards, and company policies.
Oversee complete project closeout, documentation, and timely invoicing and payment collection.
Qualifications:
Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred.
6–10+ years of project management experience in commercial construction, earthworks, excavation, and demolition.
Knowledge of quantity surveying, contract management, and project scheduling.
Strong leadership, communication, and client relationship skills.
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
