Civil Litigation Associate Attorney

Seattle, WA | Full-Time | In-Office

About the Opportunity

A respected Seattle-area law firm is seeking an experienced Civil Litigation Associate Attorney to join its growing litigation practice. This is an opportunity for an attorney who is looking for meaningful responsibility, direct client interaction, and the ability to take ownership of substantive litigation matters.

The firm is looking for a strong litigator who can manage cases with appropriate support and supervision while contributing to case strategy, motion practice, discovery, hearings, depositions, and trial preparation.

Responsibilities

  • Manage civil litigation matters through various stages of the litigation process

  • Meet with clients and develop practical strategies for resolving their legal matters

  • Conduct legal research and analyze applicable statutes, regulations, case law, and evidence

  • Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, discovery, settlement documents, and other legal correspondence

  • Handle written discovery and participate in discovery disputes as necessary

  • Take and defend depositions

  • Prepare for and attend hearings, mediations, and other court proceedings

  • Present oral arguments on motions and other contested matters

  • Assist with trial preparation and participate in trials as appropriate

  • Evaluate cases and provide clients with thoughtful advice regarding litigation strategy and potential resolution

  • Work collaboratively with other attorneys and legal professionals while independently managing assigned responsibilities

Qualifications

  • J.D. from an accredited law school

  • Active license to practice law in Washington State

  • 6+ years of civil litigation experience

  • Strong motion practice experience

  • Demonstrated experience managing litigation matters with increasing independence

  • Strong legal research, writing, and oral advocacy skills

  • Experience handling depositions and discovery

  • Courtroom and hearing experience preferred

  • Excellent client communication and interpersonal skills

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

  • Ability to work independently while knowing when to seek guidance
