About the Opportunity

A well-established and highly successful Chicago-based personal injury and workers' compensation law firm is seeking a dedicated Workers' Compensation Associate Attorney to join its plaintiff-side practice. The firm is known for its strong advocacy on behalf of injured workers, a collaborative team environment, and a robust caseload. This role offers an excellent opportunity for a mid-level attorney to take meaningful ownership of files, gain extensive hearing experience, and maximize their earning potential through a highly competitive fee-sharing or bonus structure.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage a comprehensive caseload of plaintiff-side workers' compensation claims from initial client intake through resolution or hearing.

• Draft motions, petitions, settlement contracts, and trial briefs.

• Conduct and defend depositions of medical experts, treating physicians, and employer representatives.

• Represent injured workers at status calls, pre-trial conferences, and 19(b) expedited hearings before the Illinois Workers' Compensation Commission (IWCC).

• Maintain regular, empathetic communication with clients to guide them through the litigation and medical treatment processes.

• Negotiate favorable lump-sum settlements with insurance defense counsel and adjusters.

Qualifications & Skills

• Experience: 3 or more years of dedicated experience handling workers' compensation cases (plaintiff-side preferred; defense-side experience looking to transition will be considered).

• Education: J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school.

• Licensure: Active member in good standing with the Illinois State Bar (ARDC).

• Skills: * Strong familiarity with the Illinois Workers' Compensation Act and IWCC procedures.

  • Proven experience analyzing medical records and deposing medical experts.

  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and client-management skills.

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-volume practice environment.
