The Litigation Team Associate has experience working largely independently with little partner oversight on litigation matters in North Carolina. The right hire is a smart, confident, resourceful attorney who has the demeanor to work with clients and opposing counsel, take depositions, and interview witnesses. The firm seeks an attorney who can prepare for and argue motions, take cases to trial, and negotiate as needed. An ideal candidate will have some experience in one or more of the following practice areas: Construction Litigation, Employment Law, Business Litigation, Creditor's Rights, Other Civil Litigation & Fiduciary Litigation

Duties

  • Represent clients in litigation matters, including trials, hearings, and mediations.
  • Conduct thorough legal research using tools such as Westlaw to support case strategies.
  • Draft legal documents including pleadings, motions, and briefs with precision.
  • Negotiate settlements on behalf of clients to achieve favorable outcomes
  • Collaborate with other attorneys and legal staff to prepare cases for trial.
  • Maintain organized case files and ensure all documentation is up to date.
  • Provide legal advice to clients regarding their rights and obligations under the law.
  • Stay informed about changes in laws and regulations that may affect ongoing cases.

Qualifications

  • ACTIVE North Carolina License to practice in North Carolina
  • 1 + years of Civil Litigation
  • The right hire is a smart, confident, resourceful attorney who has the demeanor to work with clients and opposing counsel, take depositions, and interview witnesses
  • An ideal candidate will have some experience in one or more of the following practice areas:
  • Strong legal research skills and proficiency with Westlaw or similar platforms
  • Excellent negotiation skills with the ability to advocate effectively for clients
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills for managing multiple cases simultaneously
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment while also being self-motivated
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills necessary for effective client interaction and legal drafting
