Heavy Equipment Mechanic
We are seeking an experienced Heavy Equipment Mechanic to travel between multiple locations and perform repairs, servicing, and preventive maintenance on heavy machinery and hydraulic equipment. This role ensures the optimal performance, reliability, and safety of equipment including cranes, backhoes, material handlers, shears, balers, shredders, forklifts, and support systems.
Key Responsibilities:
Travel to multiple sites to inspect, diagnose, and repair hydraulic and mechanical systems.
Maintain and service a variety of equipment, including loaders, material handlers, balers, shredders, and air systems.
Perform preventive maintenance to reduce downtime and extend equipment life.
Complete maintenance records, work orders, and logs accurately.
Ensure compliance with safety standards, environmental regulations, and company policies.
Assist with parts procurement, vendor coordination, and inventory management.
Qualifications:
5+ years of heavy equipment maintenance experience (scrap, recycling, or construction industry preferred).
Strong expertise in hydraulics, mechanical systems, and electrical troubleshooting.
Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.
Valid driver’s license with willingness to travel regularly.
Knowledge of OSHA and relevant safety standards.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to work outdoors in industrial environments.
Lift up to 50 lbs., stand, bend, and climb for extended periods.
