Medical Malpractice Defense Attorney

New York, NY | Hybrid

An established litigation firm is seeking an experienced Medical Malpractice Defense Attorney to join its New York City practice. This is an excellent opportunity for an attorney with a strong background defending healthcare professionals and organizations who is looking for meaningful litigation responsibility and the opportunity to continue developing a long-term defense practice.

The attorney will handle a diverse caseload involving medical malpractice, professional liability and related healthcare litigation, representing healthcare professionals and organizations throughout the litigation process.

What You'll Do

• Manage medical malpractice defense matters from inception through resolution

• Represent healthcare professionals and organizations in litigation

• Conduct legal research and develop case strategies

• Draft pleadings, motions, briefs and other litigation documents

• Handle discovery and prepare cases for hearings and trial

• Take and defend depositions

• Attend court appearances, mediations and other proceedings

• Analyze liability, damages and potential exposure

• Communicate with clients, experts, opposing counsel and other parties

• Independently manage case deadlines and litigation responsibilities

What We're Looking For

• Several years of experience in medical malpractice defense, professional liability defense or related civil litigation

• Active New York Bar admission

• Experience representing healthcare professionals, medical providers, facilities or related entities is strongly preferred

• Strong legal research and writing skills

• Experience with depositions, discovery, motion practice and court appearances

• Strong analytical and negotiation abilities

• Ability to independently manage a litigation caseload

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

The ideal candidate will have experience defending physicians, dentists, healthcare professionals, medical facilities, nursing facilities or other healthcare-related clients.
