Senior Project Manager – Heavy Civil / Utilities & Excavation
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to lead large-scale heavy civil construction projects with a focus on utilities, excavation, and site development. The ideal candidate will have 8+ years of experience managing civil construction projects and a proven track record of successfully delivering complex projects from preconstruction through completion.
Responsibilities
- Lead projects from preconstruction through final completion
- Manage project budgets, schedules, costs, and overall profitability
- Oversee project teams, subcontractors, vendors, and field operations
- Coordinate with owners, engineers, inspectors, and other project stakeholders
- Review plans, specifications, contracts, and project requirements
- Manage underground utilities, excavation, grading, and site development projects
- Negotiate and manage contracts, change orders, and subcontractor agreements
- Monitor project performance and provide regular updates to company leadership
- Identify and resolve project issues to keep work moving efficiently
- Ensure projects are completed safely, on schedule, and within budget
- Mentor and provide leadership to Project Managers and Project Engineers
Qualifications
- 8+ years of project management experience in heavy civil construction
- Strong experience with underground utilities, excavation, grading, and/or site development
- Proven ability to manage complex civil construction projects
- Strong understanding of project financials, scheduling, estimating, and contract management
- Ability to read and interpret civil plans, specifications, and contract documents
- Strong leadership, communication, negotiation, and organizational skills
- Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field preferred but not required
