Job Description

SUMMARY:

Prepares drawings of existing facilities, renovations, and new construction based on verbal instructions, sketches, and/or other formal documents.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Primary job duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Prepare floor plans, site plans, and/or other drawings for small construction and minor alteration projects utilizing drafting techniques, equipment, and technology.
  • Perform inspections of existing facilities to determine and verify structural details.
  • Read and interpret original concept drawings and/or blueprints.
  • Assist in cost estimates.
  • Communicate with customers, salesmen, and contractors.
  • Attend and participate in company-sponsored training, when required.
  • Perform other assigned duties, responsibilities, or tasks.

     

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    A Drafter must:

  • Complete and pass a drug, alcohol, and background screen prior to employment.
  • Possess a certificate or diploma in drafting and design.
  • Speak, write, and communicate effectively in the English language.
  • Interpret written, oral, diagrams, and schedule-form instructions.
  • Calculate figures and amounts (i.e., discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, etc.).
  • Utilize Microsoft Office products (i.e., Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • Utilize computer-aided design (CAD) software.

     

    WORK ENVIRONMENT / PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

    Drafters:

  • Work in both an indoor and outdoor setting.
  • Occasionally lift/move objects up to 50 pounds, stand, and walk.
  • Regularly sit, use hands, reach with arms and hands, talk, and hear.
