Commercial Lines Risk Placement Director / Key Account Manager

Hybrid Role – Wellesley, MA 02482 (Hybrid)

Salary: $125,000 – $150,000 base (depending on experience) + annual bonus + annual merit increase

We are a well-established, respected independent insurance agency in Massachusetts with a strong reputation for technical excellence, deep carrier relationships, and a client-first approach.We are now filling a uniquely important and high-visibility hybrid role that combines Risk Placement Director responsibilities with Key Large Account Management. This is one of the most critical positions in the agency. The person in this seat works directly with our top Producers on strategy, carrier selection, pricing, and negotiations while also owning the ongoing service and stewardship of a select book of our largest commercial accounts.The current Risk Placement Director is moving to a national broker after six successful years with us, creating this outstanding opportunity for the right candidate.Primary Functions & Responsibilities

  • Own the day-to-day service and stewardship of a select portfolio of the agency’s largest commercial accounts
  • Lead new-business placement efforts: coordinate submissions with carriers and wholesalers, drive quote negotiations, and secure optimal terms and pricing
  • Partner with Producers to develop placement strategy — recommend the best carrier fit, coverage enhancements, and pricing approach for each prospect or renewal
  • Prepare and deliver high-quality proposals for Producers
  • Serve as the senior technical resource for Account Managers on coverage questions, policy forms, and placement issues
  • Build and maintain strong, productive relationships with key insurance carriers and wholesalers
  • Organize and lead renewal strategy meetings with agency Producers
  • Participate in and help execute special projects assigned by senior leadership

What You Bring (Minimum Qualifications)

  • Minimum 5 years of Commercial Lines experience on the insurance agency side, with direct responsibility for larger/more complex commercial accounts
  • 10+ years total experience in the insurance industry strongly preferred
  • Deep technical expertise — thorough command of policy forms, endorsements, and all major lines of coverage
  • Proven ability to negotiate with underwriters and secure favorable terms
  • CPCU, CIC, or AAI designation (or actively pursuing) strongly preferred — these designations demonstrate the technical depth we require
