Lead Structures Estimator / Project Manager
Position Overview
We are seeking a Lead Structures Estimator / Project Manager to join a growing heavy civil construction team focused on bridges, deep foundations, piling, and complex structural projects. This role will primarily focus on estimating while also assisting with project management responsibilities throughout the lifecycle of awarded work.
The ideal candidate will bring strong bridge estimating experience, technical knowledge of structural construction, and the ability to support operations teams on large-scale infrastructure projects.
Responsibilities
- Prepare accurate estimates for bridge, deep foundation, piling, and heavy civil construction projects
- Review drawings, specifications, bid documents, and project requirements
- Develop quantity takeoffs, pricing, subcontractor/vendor solicitations, and bid proposals
- Assist with project management duties including scheduling, budgeting, coordination, and client communication
- Work closely with operations and field teams to ensure smooth project execution
- Track change orders, RFIs, and project cost impacts
- Support preconstruction and estimating strategy efforts for upcoming pursuits
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of estimating and/or project management experience in heavy civil construction
- MUST have bridge construction estimating experience — non-negotiable
- Experience estimating deep foundations, piling, and heavy structures projects preferred
- Structural steel estimating experience for bridges is highly preferred
- Rail experience is a plus
- HCSS experience strongly preferred
- Strong understanding of bridge construction methods and heavy civil operations
- Ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, and contract documents
- Strong communication and organizational skills
Location & Travel
- Candidate must be based in Kansas City or open to relocate there
- Travel requirement is approximately one overnight per week with home every weekend
