Job Description

Position Summary: Seeking a dedicated and experienced HR professional to temporarily oversee the Human Resources department during our HR Manager's maternity leave. This individual must have a strong background in recruitment, training and development, employee relations, compliance, and HR operations. A passion for teaching, exceptional attention to detail, and proven experience in creating and implementing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and training modules are essential.

Key Responsibilities:

Training and Development

  • Collaborate with department leads to design and implement SOPs and comprehensive training modules.
  • Develop and facilitate onboarding programs to ensure consistent training for new hires.
  • Conduct training sessions and workshops for employees and supervisors to align with company policies and procedures.
  • Monitor adherence to SOPs and provide ongoing coaching as needed.

Recruitment and Talent Acquisition

    • Lead the recruitment process, including developing job descriptions, posting positions, sourcing candidates, and reviewing applications.
    • Utilize various platforms such as LinkedIn, Handshake, Indeed, and professional networks to attract top talent.
    • Conduct initial candidate screenings to evaluate qualifications, cultural fit, and alignment with role requirements.
    • Partner with hiring managers to schedule interviews, provide structured feedback, and guide the selection process.
    • Develop innovative recruitment strategies to attract diverse talent and meet the company’s staffing goals.
      • Manage relationships with staffing agencies and temporary workforce providers to fulfill operational needs.
      • Facilitate offer negotiations and coordinate employment processes such as background checks and reference verifications.

Employee Relations and Investigations

        • Lead investigations into employee grievances, harassment claims, and other workplace concerns with professionalism and impartiality.
        • Document and analyze findings, ensuring compliance with legal and company standards.
        • Provide recommendations and implement corrective actions or resolutions as appropriate.
        • Act as a liaison between management and employees to foster a respectful and compliant work environment.
        • Handle union-related grievances in collaboration with union representatives.

Compliance and Policy Management

        • Update and enforce company policies, ensuring alignment with local, state, and federal regulations.
        • Maintain employee records and ensure compliance with all reporting requirements.

Qualifications:

          • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field; HR certification (SHRM-CP, PHR) preferred.
            • Minimum of 5 years of HR experience, with a strong emphasis on recruitment and training.
            • Proven ability to develop SOPs, training modules, and onboarding programs.
            • Experience in full-cycle recruitment and innovative talent acquisition strategies.
            • Experience with unionized environments is a plus.
            • Exceptional interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
            • Proficient in HR systems and software, including payroll, applicant tracking, and compliance platforms.
