Crane Operator – Structural Steel (On-Site)

A growing structural steel fabricator and erector is seeking an experienced Crane Operator to support fabrication yard and erection operations. This role is ideal for a safety-focused operator with experience handling structural steel, rigging coordination, and working closely with field crews.

As a Crane Operator, you will be responsible for safely lifting, moving, and placing structural steel members in both shop and field environments while maintaining productivity and jobsite safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate mobile or overhead cranes to move structural steel safely and efficiently

  • Coordinate with riggers, ironworkers, and field crews during picks and placement

  • Perform pre-operation inspections and routine equipment checks

  • Follow lift plans, load charts, and site-specific safety requirements

  • Assist with material handling in fabrication yard and jobsite environments

  • Maintain clear communication with ground personnel and signalers

  • Ensure compliance with OSHA and company safety standards

  • Support erection sequencing and jobsite logistics

Qualifications

  • Experience operating cranes in structural steel or construction environments

  • Valid crane operator certification (NCCCO or equivalent preferred)

  • Strong understanding of load charts, rigging, and lift planning

  • Ability to work in fast-paced shop and field environments

  • Commitment to safety, communication, and teamwork

Preferred

  • Experience supporting steel erection projects

  • Familiarity with rigging practices and signaling

  • CDL or ability to assist with equipment transport

Compensation & Benefits

  • $100k to $140k (DOE)

  • Full benefits package (health, dental, vision, PTO)
