Maintenance Manager
Summary Seeking an experienced Maintenance Manager to oversee repair and preventive maintenance of hydraulic equipment and heavy machinery across multiple scrapyard locations. This role manages a traveling maintenance team, ensuring equipment reliability, safety, and minimal downtime.
Responsibilities
Lead and schedule a traveling maintenance team.
Inspect, troubleshoot, and maintain:
Hydraulic systems
Cranes, loaders, backhoes, material handlers
Balers, shears, shredders
Motors, air systems, electrical components
Forklifts, skid steers, and support equipment
Implement preventive maintenance programs.
Coordinate repairs and emergency response.
Maintain records, logs, and CMMS data.
Ensure compliance with OSHA and safety standards.
Manage parts inventory and vendor relationships.
Train and mentor technicians.
Collaborate with operations on maintenance priorities.
Support budgeting and cost control.
Qualifications
5+ years’ heavy equipment maintenance (scrap, recycling, or construction preferred).
Strong knowledge of hydraulics, mechanical, and electrical systems.
Leadership experience with mobile crews.
OSHA safety knowledge; ability to read manuals/schematics.
CMMS experience a plus.
Valid driver’s license; frequent travel required.
Physical Requirements
Work in outdoor/industrial environments (noise, dust, weather).
Lift up to 50 lbs.; ability to bend, climb, and stand for long periods.
Preferred
Certifications in hydraulics, welding, or heavy equipment repair.
