Job Description

A respected California law firm is seeking an attorney to join its Community Association practice. This role is ideal for a lawyer who enjoys serving as a trusted advisor, solving practical legal issues, and working directly with clients on a wide variety of governance and operational matters.

Previous experience representing homeowners associations is beneficial but not required. Attorneys with backgrounds in real estate, corporate, business, municipal, transactional, or general civil practice who are interested in expanding into a specialized area of law are encouraged to apply.

What You'll Do

  • Serve as primary legal counsel to community associations and their management teams.
  • Guide clients through governance, operational, and compliance-related legal matters.
  • Prepare and revise governing documents, policies, resolutions, and other legal instruments.
  • Research and interpret California laws affecting common interest developments.
  • Advise clients on board procedures, elections, rule enforcement, and risk management strategies.
  • Participate in board meetings as a legal advisor, including occasional evening meetings conducted virtually or in person.
  • Work alongside litigation attorneys when legal disputes require additional support.

What We're Looking For

  • Active membership in the California State Bar.
  • At least three years of legal experience in a transactional, advisory, real estate, business, municipal, or related practice.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational abilities and attention to detail.
  • Confidence interacting with clients in meeting and presentation settings.
  • A collaborative mindset and commitment to providing practical, client-focused legal solutions.
  • Community association experience is welcomed but not necessary for candidates eager to learn.
