Job Description

We are hiring an experienced Sawmill Manager to oversee operations at our family owned, hardwood lumber facility. This is a hands-on leadership position responsible for the daily functions of the mill, focusing on safety, quality, production, and team leadership.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prioritize & maintain safe mill operations as the top priority

  • Align mill production with lumber sales goals to meet manufacturing targets efficiently

  • Oversee operating costs & lead all production personnel

  • Set & track production & quality performance metrics

  • Supervise log processing to ensure optimal use & minimize waste

  • Partner with the maintenance team to keep all equipment running at peak performance

  • Identify & support improvements in equipment, workflow, or personnel

  • Promote continuous improvement throughout mill operations

  • Ensure proper handling and maintenance of all company equipment & assets

  • Provide training & guidance to meet company objectives

  • Foster a positive & motivated workplace culture

  • Evaluate & develop talent across all levels of the mill

  • Collaborate with other managers to support broader organizational goals

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years’ relevant management experience preferred

  • Flexible, team-driven leader who works well within a larger organizational structure

  • Demonstrated ability to lead & support a diverse workforce respectfully

  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word & Outlook

  • Strong written & verbal communication skills required
