Job Description

Gpac is currently working with a growing family-owned food manufacturer in Southern Minnesota who is seeking a Production Superintendent! This person will be in their NEW state of the art facility which is expected to have around 300 employees. The company has been in business over 20 years and this is their 4th location. This will be a 1st shift postion and candidates NEED to have experience working within smoked meats/pork processing. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage production teams, ensuring daily production goals are met in accordance with quality and safety standards.
  • Monitor production schedules and adjust workflows as necessary to meet demand, optimizing labor, materials, and equipment usage.
  • Oversee product quality throughout the production process to ensure compliance with internal and regulatory standards.
  • Provide direction and support to production employees, ensuring effective communication, performance expectations, and goal alignment.
  • Conduct regular team meetings to discuss production goals, performance feedback, safety issues, and any operational challenges.
  • Enforce safety standards and ensure that all employees are following OSHA, USDA, and internal safety guidelines.
  • Identify and address any safety hazards on the production floor and implement corrective actions to prevent accidents.
  • Support the implementation of quality control procedures and ensure compliance with HACCP and other food safety regulations.
  • Track and analyze production metrics (e.g., output, efficiency, downtime) and report on performance regularly.
  • Identify areas for improvement in production processes and recommend changes to enhance efficiency and reduce waste.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve production-related issues in a timely manner to minimize disruptions to operations.
  • Monitor the usage of raw materials and supplies, ensuring adequate stock levels to prevent delays in production.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing production efficiency, reducing costs, and improving product quality.

Qualifications:

  • NEED to have experience within smoked meats
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in production supervision
  • Hands-on leadership style
  • Experience within a start-up/growth environment a plus
  • Knowledge of USDA, HACCP, and OSHA regulations
  • Proficiency in Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies
  • Excellent problem-solving, decision-making, and communication skills
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-volume production environment.
