Residential Construction Estimator
A growing and reputable residential construction company is seeking an experienced Estimator to join their team. This is an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented construction professional who understands the estimating process and can develop accurate, competitive bids for residential projects.
The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of residential construction, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to work closely with Project Managers, subcontractors, vendors, and clients.
Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed cost estimates for residential construction projects
- Review plans, specifications, scopes of work, and project documents
- Perform accurate quantity takeoffs and material calculations
- Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and vendor bids
- Develop competitive and accurate project budgets
- Identify potential cost savings and value-engineering opportunities
- Prepare bid proposals and maintain estimating documentation
- Communicate with subcontractors, suppliers, architects, and project teams
- Assist with project budgets from pre-construction through completion
- Track material and labor costs to ensure estimates remain accurate
- Identify potential risks, scope gaps, and discrepancies before bids are submitted
- Maintain strong relationships with subcontractors and vendors
Qualifications
- 3+ years of residential construction estimating experience
- Strong understanding of residential construction methods and materials
- Experience with construction plans, specifications, and takeoffs
- Ability to accurately estimate labor, materials, subcontractor costs, and equipment
- Strong mathematical and analytical skills
- Excellent attention to detail and organization
- Strong communication and negotiation skills
- Ability to manage multiple estimates and deadlines
- Proficiency with estimating and construction software preferred
- Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, or related field preferred but not required
