A well-established and rapidly growing general contractor in the Chicago area is seeking an experienced Controller to lead financial operations and support continued expansion.
This is a high-impact leadership role within a financially healthy organization with a strong backlog and disciplined operational structure. The Controller will partner directly with executive leadership to ensure financial integrity, strategic planning, and scalable processes as the company grows.
Key Responsibilities:
• Oversee all accounting operations, including general ledger, AR/AP, payroll, and financial reporting
• Lead monthly and year-end close processes
• Manage WIP reporting and construction-specific financial analysis
• Support cash flow forecasting and budgeting
• Ensure compliance, internal controls, and audit readiness
• Partner with ownership on financial strategy and growth initiatives
Qualifications:
• 7+ years of accounting leadership experience within a general contractor
• Strong understanding of construction accounting, WIP schedules, and percentage-of-completion reporting
• Experience managing accounting teams
• CPA preferred but not required
