Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP)Position Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) to join our growing behavioral health team. The ideal candidate will provide comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, diagnosis, treatment planning, medication management, and ongoing mental health care for patients across the lifespan. This role offers the opportunity to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team in a supportive and patient-centered environment.
Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive psychiatric assessments and evaluations.
- Diagnose and treat mental health disorders in accordance with evidence-based practices.
- Develop individualized treatment plans tailored to patient needs.
- Prescribe, monitor, and adjust psychiatric medications as appropriate.
- Provide patient and family education regarding diagnoses, treatment options, and medication management.
- Collaborate with therapists, counselors, primary care providers, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate care.
- Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in the electronic health record (EHR).
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and organizational regulations and standards.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and team meetings as needed.
QualificationsRequired
- Master's or Doctoral degree in Nursing from an accredited program.
- Current Texas Registered Nurse (RN) license.
- Current Texas Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) license.
- Board Certification as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC).
- DEA registration and eligibility to prescribe controlled substances in Texas.
- Strong clinical assessment, diagnostic, and treatment planning skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
Preferred
- Experience working in outpatient, inpatient, telehealth, or community mental health settings.
- Experience treating children, adolescents, adults, and/or geriatric populations.
- Bilingual abilities are a plus.
