Tax Manager - Real Estate

Location: Memphis, TN

Overview

A Big 4 firm is seeking a Tax Manager for its real estate tax group in Memphis. You will provide federal tax consulting and compliance services to REITs, real estate private equity funds, joint ventures and operating partnerships, lead engagement teams and build client relationships. Hybrid (in person 2-3 days per week).

Responsibilities

• Provide federal tax consulting and compliance services to REITs, real estate funds, joint ventures and operating partnerships
• Advise on partnership life-cycle events (formations, mergers, IPOs), basis computations, Sections 704(c) and 743(b) and Schedule K-1 processing
• Advise on REIT qualification, tax reform impacts on pass-through entities, restructuring and tax controversy
• Lead tax engagement teams and manage workflow, resources, timelines and billing
• Build and maintain trusted client relationships
• Mentor and guide team members

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or related field
• 5+ years of corporate tax experience
• Active CPA license (or attorney, Enrolled Agent, CFA or CFP if not CPA eligible)
• Real estate tax technical and transaction skills, including partnership and REIT taxation, compliance and structuring
• Strong managerial experience with budgets, people and projects
• Ability to travel up to 25%
• Master of Tax, JD or LLM and prior Big 4/large firm experience preferred
