Job Description

Job Title: Mechanical Designer—Industrial Equipment (Full-Time, First Shift)

 

One of my best clients, a respected and long-established manufacturer of industrial equipment, is seeking a Mechanical Designer to join its growing team. With over 50 years of industry leadership, their company designs and manufactures rugged, high-performance equipment serving critical sectors like construction, municipal, sanitation, and agriculture.

Position Summary:
The Mechanical Designer will support product development and continuous improvement by creating and maintaining complex 3D models, detailed drawings, and engineering documentation using SolidWorks. The role includes designing systems involving metal fabrication, hydraulics, mechanical drive systems, pneumatics, and electrical integration.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and maintain large assembly models and detailed component/assembly drawings in SolidWorks
  • Generate and maintain bills of materials (BOM) within SolidWorks and ERP
  • Support product improvement through design changes, ECOs, and documentation
  • Collaborate with production, sourcing, and vendors to optimize manufacturability and cost
  • Provide technical support to production and service teams
  • Participate in process improvement and special engineering projects
  • Support development and specification of mechanical and electro-mechanical components

Qualifications:

  • Associate degree or industry recognized certifications in Mechanical Design or related
  • 3+ years of relevant mechanical design experience in industrial equipment
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks, including Assembly, Sheet Metal, and Routing modules
  • Familiarity with EPDM (SolidWorks PDM) preferred
  • Strong understanding of mechanical systems: hydraulics, pneumatics, and drive components
