The Opportunity

Are you a seasoned litigator who has mastered the art of discovery and is ready for the "first chair" experience? Our Oakland-based firm is seeking a high-caliber Mid-to-Senior Level Associate to take a leadership role within our diverse litigation practice.

We don't do "siloed" law. You will manage a sophisticated portfolio spanning Product Liability, Business Litigation, Medical Malpractice, Employment Law, and Torts. This is a role for a definitive "closer"—someone who can take a complex file from inception through trial with minimal oversight and maximum impact.

The Role: Command the Case

We are looking for an attorney who no longer needs a roadmap, but rather a platform. While mentorship is always available from our partners, you will be expected to "run with it" from day one.

Your core responsibilities will include:

  • End-to-End Case Management: Serving as the lead associate on high-exposure matters, overseeing junior staff when applicable, and driving case strategy.
  • Advanced Advocacy: Taking and defending expert depositions, arguing dispositive motions, and acting as a key player in trial and arbitration.
  • Strategic Client Management: Acting as a trusted advisor to our clients, translating complex legal risks into actionable business or personal strategies.
  • High-Impact Execution: Maintaining a consistent billable cadence of 1,920 hours per year, supported by a steady flow of high-quality, substantive work.

  • Onboarding: To ensure a seamless integration into our firm’s specific trial philosophies and client cultures, this role begins with an onsite probationary period in our Oakland office.

Who You Are

  • Proven Expert: 4–7+ years of rigorous litigation experience. You have a deep understanding of the California Code of Civil Procedure and a "battle-tested" courtroom presence.
  • The "Generalist" Specialist: You possess the intellectual agility to jump between a complex breach of contract dispute and a high-stakes tort claim without missing a beat.
  • Writer & Orator: Your motions are surgical, and your oral arguments are persuasive and poised.
  • Ambitious: You are looking for a firm where a 1,920-hour commitment is recognized as a fast track toward leadership and professional growth.
